Servant Song

Since prayer is at the bottom of all this, what I want mostly is for men to pray—not shaking angry fists at enemies but raising holy hands to God. And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it.

1 Timothy 2:10 The Message

My husband is one of those people who doesn’t hesitate to help when he sees a need.

I’ve watched him wash dishes after church potlucks, don a hazmat suit to scrape off a popcorn ceiling, study for hours just to help our kids with their homework… He even said yes to serving on the HOA board!

Now, I admit I found him attractive before I recognized his servant heart, but seeing him put love into action time and time again confirms that this man I married is one truly beautiful human.

Who do you know, whose heart for serving others makes them shine? Have you thanked them lately? Can you do that today?

Servant Song

I thank You, Lord, for giving me

A heart and eyes with which to see

The people who are suffering around me

I offer up my feet, my hands

Use my life, Lord, if You can

Be visible, be evident in me

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

Put Your smile on my face

Fill my eyes with Your tears

And my arms with Your embrace

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

With Your words in my mouth

I will serve You for all of my days

I thank You, Lord, for showing me

The life to which You’re calling me

Unfolding like a mystery each day

Direction in Your Word I find

Strengthening my soul, my mind

I hear Your Spirit whisper in my ear

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

Put Your smile on my face

Fill my eyes with Your tears

And my arms with Your embrace

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

With Your words in my mouth

I will serve You for all of my days

Jesus, I will serve You for all of my days

Brita, this is a beautiful song that you have written. As I sing it to myself in my corner of the world, it makes me realize more and more that the Lord isn’t finished with me yet. This last near death experience resonates with me I’ve got lots more living to do for Him. Thank you for being YOU.
