Advent should be an ADVENTure!
An adventure that honors tradition without bowing the knee to retail-bullying.
One that embraces fun and gift-giving without breaking the bank.
One that engages more of me than just my schedule and my credit card.
The season of Advent may appear to have been hijacked by a relentless stream of commercial messages, but this year can be different! Instead of plodding through another stress-filled holiday, women on the move are choosing a different route to Christmas morning.
Trek to the Manger is a tool in the hands (and hearts) of busy women during the season of Advent. Each daily devotion presents an opportunity to redeem the Christmas holiday and reclaim our focus on the Light of the World. This spiritual adventure is an ideal resource for small groups, Bible studies, or personal devotional reading.
A reading schedule and small group discussion guide are available upon request for women wishing to join others on this journey of faith. Use the contact form below to access these resources!
It’s time to fire up your GPS and grab a traveling buddy or two! Not for another trip to the mall… for a Trek to the Manger.

I’ve just received the fifth email warning today, informing me that my email address has been pirated by an ‘unauthorized person’ outside of the Epsilon system. Epsilon is apparently a massive e-mailing machine, but I’m awfully glad I don’t own their stock today as I open email #5 from yet another apologetic company. “We are […]
Pastor/author/speaker Rob Bell has a new book hitting the shelves today, and the religious community is astir. Words like radical, universalist, false prophet and heretic are erupting from the mouths and the laptops of many whose closely-held interpretations of Scripture are being challenged in Bell’s controversial book, Love Wins: A Book about Heaven, Hell and […]
PINK Tuesdays have become, for Pink Shoes Ministries, an opportunity to unearth the treasures which are often buried deep beneath the surface of our ordinary lives. These treasures are often the byproduct of tragedy, tension, struggle and loss; treasures that are often left undiscovered, having been covered with layer upon layer of life’s sedimentary deposits. […]
‘If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands!’ ‘Shiny, happy people holding hands.’ ‘Don’t worry, be happy.’ Sound familiar? A quick Google search brings up more than 100 songs with the word ‘happy’ in the title, but I have to wonder how many of us would use the word to describe the day […]
I just stepped out of my closet. My head is hanging, because I thought it might be effective to poke fun at myself and my obvious obsession with shoes. I figured that, if I wanted to really make a strong argument for the case of the damage done by our excesses, I should begin at […]
Discomfort comes in many forms, in varied shapes and sizes. Whether circumstantial, relational, physical, financial or spiritual, the thing we all know about discomfort is THAT IT COMES. Our natural tendency is to recoil when pain and discomfort hit close to home. We FIGHT it! We DENY it! We COMPLAIN ABOUT it! We RUN FROM […]
Nothing scares us more than facing off with our inner demons, and yet nothing scares THEM more than when we call them out, BY NAME! Think Jesus and the healing of the demon-possessed man. Having been filled with a whole herd of demons, this poor man was literally out of his mind (or, he could […]
You think I’m kidding, but I’ve never been more serious. I WELCOME YOU to my MID-LIFE CRISIS because I’ve learned that ‘the more, the merrier’ is as practical as good counsel gets, and the one thing that my mid-life crisis has failed to produce is ‘merry’ of any kind. ‘Merry Christmas,’ we say. ‘Eat, drink […]
Every Tuesday morning, armed with my Bible and a bag of powerful, freshly ground coffee, I make my way to the church. Only, I don’t really think of it as going to ‘church’ – it’s more like going home. I never dread Tuesday mornings. On the contrary, Tuesday is my favorite day of the week! […]
