Advent should be an ADVENTure!
An adventure that honors tradition without bowing the knee to retail-bullying.
One that embraces fun and gift-giving without breaking the bank.
One that engages more of me than just my schedule and my credit card.
The season of Advent may appear to have been hijacked by a relentless stream of commercial messages, but this year can be different! Instead of plodding through another stress-filled holiday, women on the move are choosing a different route to Christmas morning.
Trek to the Manger is a tool in the hands (and hearts) of busy women during the season of Advent. Each daily devotion presents an opportunity to redeem the Christmas holiday and reclaim our focus on the Light of the World. This spiritual adventure is an ideal resource for small groups, Bible studies, or personal devotional reading.
A reading schedule and small group discussion guide are available upon request for women wishing to join others on this journey of faith. Use the contact form below to access these resources!
It’s time to fire up your GPS and grab a traveling buddy or two! Not for another trip to the mall… for a Trek to the Manger.

Let’s talk about what happens at the intersection of real life, God’s Word, and the arrival of Jesus. Let’s talk about HOPE! Once Advent begins, we’ve got 28 days to prepare for a celebration of the many ways in which God is with us – 28 days to make some room in our hearts for […]

Join Brita and 28 women from every age and stage of life for an exploration of the One Great Hope we all share in Christ. Each daily post will provide a fresh perspective and an opportunity to reflect deeply on […]
The summer before my daughter’s freshman year of high school included one rigorous shopping trip for clothes and school supplies. It was all fairly routine until we found ourselves in the shoe section of a favorite store… I saw these shoes, and I’ll admit to you there was only a hint of attraction when I […]
I struggle to be present. Can you relate? The planner in me is ALWAYS working toward the next thing on the calendar, the next decision that has to be made. I continually play all the scenarios in my mind as life-in-the-moment is actually happening. I don’t like this about myself, it just is. But today, […]
Today, in the midst of summer vacations and weekend road trips, I’m reminded of my long-time traveling buddies: My precious family. This is re-post from several years ago. My husband and I just celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary. Besides the family we’ve created together, many of the best gifts we’ve been given over the years are […]
I just signed up for a Diet Bet. I know, I know – “diet” actually is a four-letter word. I guess I’m in a place right now where I need a little bit of external motivation, and maybe some accountability, in order to keep myself on track. Quarantine life isn’t exactly conducive to stellar eating […]
There’s a sign hanging over the door that leads from my laundry room to the carport, reminding my family to “Make Good Choices” out there. You might think I’m the kind of Mom who raised her kids on these words, but frankly, you’d be wrong. That sign hangs there – always slightly askew, never mind […]
At William “Bill” Alfier’s memorial service today, memories flowed freely and were peppered with laughter, salted with tears. Bill was a colorful guy for whom appearances meant nothing, but whose family and friends meant everything to him. He lived exactly as he pleased and gave permission for others to do the same, and whether or […]
