Advent should be an ADVENTure!

An adventure that honors tradition without bowing the knee to retail-bullying.

One that embraces fun and gift-giving without breaking the bank.

One that engages more of me than just my schedule and my credit card.

The season of Advent may appear to have been hijacked by a relentless stream of commercial messages, but this year can be different! Instead of plodding through another stress-filled holiday, women on the move are choosing a different route to Christmas morning.

Trek to the Manger is a tool in the hands (and hearts) of busy women during the season of Advent. Each daily devotion presents an opportunity to redeem the Christmas holiday and reclaim our focus on the Light of the World. This spiritual adventure is an ideal resource for small groups, Bible studies, or personal devotional reading.

A reading schedule and small group discussion guide are available upon request for women wishing to join others on this journey of faith. Use the contact form below to access these resources!

It’s time to fire up your GPS and grab a traveling buddy or two! Not for another trip to the mall… for a Trek to the Manger.

How far are you willing to go with God? Where do you draw the line when it comes to doing things His way? At what point do you dig your heels in and refuse to take one more step down the path of His choosing? Before you answer, I think you’ll want to hear this […]

Do you remember playing Truth or Dare as a child? Usually the dare was something risky – maybe embarrassing or even scary. Something that would push you out of your comfort zone. Maybe even make you feel a bit vulnerable in front of others. Personally, I almost always took the truth option. The word dare […]

Q: How many egomaniacs does it take to change a light bulb? A: One. He holds the bulb and the world revolves around him. Q: How many lawyers does it take to change a light bulb? A:  How many can you afford? Q: How many board meetings does it take to get a light bulb changed? […]

Isaiah had a vision. His vision was of God, in heaven, seated on His throne in unimaginable glory (not to mention the angel-seraphs, whose voices raised in worship to this majestic God literally shook the foundations of the temple where Isaiah stood). In the Bible, where this vision is recorded, we’re told that Isaiah’s first […]

As I grow older in my faith, I find that there are fewer words to describe who God is – to me – and what He does in my life. I don’t mean that there aren’t words to express the truth about Him, only that I don’t actually need them. Does that make sense? My […]

In my world, this is Faith Statement season. This means that, tomorrow evening, about 30 of us will gather to share with one another what we believe about God – and how that translates into real life, day in and day out. Believers of all ages do this every year in my faith family, in […]

‘Rather than “standing on the promises,” many Christians are simply “sitting on the premises.”’ [Daniel Henderson, PRAYzing! (NavPress)] Devout bystanders. Faithful pew-sitters. Attentive audiences. Somehow, I don’t think this is what Jesus had in mind. Don’t get me wrong, though – for some of us, the fact that we are sitting on the premises is […]

I grew up in Arizona. My children have grown up in Arizona. With this in mind, you’ll understand that when I hear the word broken, I think piñata. I would argue that until you’ve had your arms elbow-deep in papier mache, you haven’t really experienced creation (or at least the act of creating). I still […]

I had a doorstep conversation this morning with a repeat visitor from a local church. She remembered my name, and she remembered that my work includes Christian education. She didn’t come empty handed today – she came bearing a gift in the form of a book dedicated to refuting the claims of evolution. She told […]
